Ten thousand miles = 10 000 miles

To day the test series with 20% mustard seed oil komponent lasted 10 000 miles without any harm in fuel system. The motor of Jetta goes strong but the career of the car is finished because of other problems.

Three months and 7500 miles

and no problems:

Today odometer told that Jetta has been running the latest biofueltest 7000 miles:


The fuel contains 20 % mustard seed oil that was pressed more than 10 years ago.

More than 5500 miles has gone and no problems have appeared:

Testdrive 4000 miles

At level 20% mustard seed oil in the dieselfuelmix no problems have occured during the 4000 testmiles.

Perhaps a small problem during a long test drive ( last weekend more than 1000 miles ) is the fuel itself. Mixture is made simply tanking 22 litres dieselfuel and adding 5 litres mso - now using a lot of 1990'ies.

More than 2200 miles

No problems have occured during the last 2200 miles with fuel consisting 20 % by weight mustard seed oil from the previous Millenium.

The test started one month ago at 662500 kms.

First 1000 miles: no problems

Within EU the goal is to raise the level of biokomponent to 20% by 2020.
My test with old Jetta and almost as old biofuel goes on that level.
First 1000 miles is back with MSO:

Biofueltest goes on again

The biofueltest that was cancelled for wintertime goes again on. The first of May Jetta got new motoroil and oilfilter and mustard seed oil from the former millenium was added 10 litres to tank - 60 litres - of Jetta. Jetta had gained the mileage:

About 411750 miles.

Non-perishable bio-oil MSO

Mustard seed oil was produced in the end of -90'ties and stored outdoors in an iron barrel hermetically. The barrel was opened in the middle of April 2009 and the sigth was beautiful.. The oil was tested organoleptically and found excellent:


So; it seems that mustard seed oil keeps its' quality if stored from the influence of air and light - temperature has varied from - 30 degrees to +35 degrees Centigrade during more than 10 years.
